That is the DOSBox config for my GOG version of UW1: Lcaldwell04: Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to save the default Dosbox settings for cycles. I applied the below changes and everything seems a lot smoother, but I wasn't sure if there was some fine-tuning I could/should do. With my weapon put away, my movement would seem as if it were drifting left or right slightly, even when I was moving straight, and sometimes I would move very slowly even when I was pushing the mouse to the top of the screen.Īfter a little investigation, I discovered that might have something to do with my cycles settings in the Dosbox configuration.ĭo any of you have recommendations for the best settings on a modern machine? Is there any advantage to playing at full screen (I sort of like being able to switch between windows if possible, especially to reference the quick reference card). Video I've seen on Youtube of the game doesn't seem to have that problem. It would look like my sword or cudgel was stuttering in place when I tried to walk. I just started playing Ultima Underworld and noticed that, out of the box, movement was kind of choppy, especially with my weapon out (note I am running in windowed mode, not full screen, at 1280x800, Overlay graphics mode, with normal2x scaling). ![]()
